The Blystad Group has a long history in international shipping. Through Songa Shipholding, the Blystad Group has been an active shipowner and operator in the international shipping markets for more than three decades.
The Blystad Group has investments in various shipping segments such as tankers, containerships and offshore supply vessels.
The group has long financing relationships with a number of highly regarded international financing institutions worldwide. Currently Songa Shipholding employs about 1,350 seafarers and 50 onshore technical management staff.
All vessels owned by the Group are technically managed by Songa Shipmanagement Ltd., our stamp of excellence and reliability.

Inhouse technical shipmanager of excellence
HISTORY
- The Technical Management branch of Blystad Shipping (USA) was founded in Houston, Texas in 1995 to manage vessels owned by Mr. Arne Blystad.
- Following the move of the technical management branch from the US to Glasgow Blystad Shipmanagement Ltd. was founded in Scotland, 2003.
- Songa Shipmanagement Ltd was founded in 2006.
- Songa Crewmanagement Ltd. was founded in 2016
- Currently employs about 50 shore staff & 1,350 ship staff as of April 2024
